In Your Home

Bed, lap, or wherever they're comfortable.

Same-Day Visits

Often available, 7 days a week.

When it's time to say goodbye, your dog or cat shouldn't spend their last hour in a car, then a waiting room, then a stainless steel table. We come to your home in Mesa so your pet can go peacefully in their own bed, in your lap, or in the patch of afternoon sun they've claimed for years.

What it costs in Mesa

$405 — At-home euthanasia

$555 — At-home euthanasia with cremation (aquamation), ashes scattered

$690 — At-home euthanasia with cremation (aquamation), ashes returned to you

That is the whole price. Mesa is inside our service area, so there is no travel fee, and no added charge for evenings, weekends, holidays, or larger dogs.

Most providers charge extra for a larger pet, for the drive out to you, and for evenings and weekends. On a typical Saturday visit for an 80-pound dog, those add $75 to $175 to the price you were quoted. We don't do that. The number above is the number you pay.

We give a two-hour arrival window, one hour either side of your appointment time, and we'll tell you what it is when you book. If you'd rather talk it through before deciding anything, that's what we're here for. There's no charge to call and no pressure to schedule.

Getting to you in Mesa

A Greener Place, the aquamation facility we work with, is on West Main Street right here in Mesa. That means Mesa families have the shortest aftercare journey of anyone in the Valley, and if you would like to collect your pet's ashes yourself rather than have them delivered, it is a short drive. Leisure World, Sunland Springs and the other age-restricted communities here usually require guard check-in, so let us know and we will handle it.

Neighborhoods we visit in Mesa

We come to homes throughout Mesa, including Las Sendas, Red Mountain, Eastmark, Dobson Ranch, Superstition Springs, Leisure World, Sunland Springs. If your neighborhood isn't listed, that almost certainly doesn't mean we can't reach you. The list is only a sample. Call or text 602-960-2501 and we'll tell you straight away.

Who comes to your home

A veterinarian and a veterinary technician come to every appointment. You will never be asked to lift or carry your pet, whatever their size. Nobody is rushed, and nobody will hurry you.

Our veterinarians have chosen this work specifically, focusing on gentle, in-home euthanasia rather than splitting time with a general practice. Our team includes staff certified in pet loss and grief support.

What the visit looks like

We sit down with you first. We'll ask about your pet, talk through what is about to happen, and answer anything you want to ask, for as long as you need. You choose where your pet rests: their bed, your lap, the couch, the back patio.

When you're ready, your pet receives a sedative that includes strong pain medication. Over the next five to fifteen minutes they relax completely and fall deeply asleep. When you say so, and only then, the veterinarian gives the final injection. It's quiet, and it's quick.

Afterward we make a clay pawprint and clip a lock of fur for you to keep, and we give you time alone.

Aftercare for Mesa families

Our aftercare partner is A Greener Place in Mesa. They use aquamation, a gentle water-based alternative to flame cremation, and we handle every part of getting your pet there and your pet's ashes back to you.

If you'd like your pet's ashes returned, they come back in a wooden urn with an engraved nameplate. Mesa families can collect them in Mesa, or have them delivered for $40. If you choose communal aquamation, we scatter your pet's ashes ourselves on private land in Ash Fork, and we'll show you exactly where.

If your pet has already passed

If your pet died at home before we could get to you, we can still help. We'll come to your home in Mesa, take care of your pet gently, and handle the cremation arrangements. Body care is $455 with communal aquamation and $590 with ashes returned. Call or text 602-960-2501.

I am so grateful to Luna Vet when we had to make the heart-wrenching decision to put down my beloved cat. I must have called frantically over 7 different at-home euthanasia vets who either didn't pick up, didnt take care credit or didn't have same day availability. Luna Vet called me back and was able to fit us in that very morning which is what we desperately needed. My cat was so far gone and needed to be put down asap as his decline from kidney disease was so rapid. We thought we had more time until that morning we realized it had to happen that day. Luna Vet's veterinarian and technician were exceptionally kind, empathic and understanding. Their kindness and compassion was above and beyond as I was so emotional. They asked thoughtful questions and made sure I was okay during the entire process while treating our cat with such respect. If you are ever in a position like I was, with a need to put down your own pet, call them first. Their pricing was also the fairest I had seen and the fact that they accept care credit is such a relief. Thank you Luna Vet for helping us at such a difficult time. You all do amazing work and we are so grateful to have found you.

We had to make the difficult decision to seek assistance in helping our beloved Lucy cross the rainbow bridge. Lucy was our love for 11 years. The first and only fur baby my 4 kids have ever known and grew up with and mine as well. We didn’t know what to expect when deciding on assistance with Lucy, and to be honest I was terrified. Terrified that she wouldn’t get what she deserved in her last moments with us. Luna, Dr. Lauren and Jessica instantly put us at ease and our experience was better than I could have ever imagined. Not one single regret. It was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and Lucy was taken care of as if Lucy was their own baby. I am forever grateful and so is our family. We are beyond grateful for making this heartbreaking moment in our life a little more comforting. Thank you so much Dr. Lauren, Jessica, Brandie and everyone at Luna.

Our Bridgette beat cancer, but then developed renal failure. After weeks at the emergency veterinarian office, receiving IV therapy, her kidney values continued to worsen. The decision was made to euthanize at home. She came home and she immediately went to the bedroom to get on the bed. Nite nite time was her favorite and she never went there unless it was 8PM. Well, this was noon and she wanted on the bed. She was telling me it was time for her to go. We spent the last four hours with her on the bed, loving her as she slept. When the veterinarian and the veterinarian tech showed up, they were very professional. As the veterinarian gave her the shot to put her in a deep sleep, my Bridgette looked me in the eyes and gave me one last kiss, as saying thank you. After she fell into a deep sleep, I hugged her and continued to tell her I love her. She was then euthanized, very peacefully. It was a hard decision, but she gave us unconditional love, now it was our turn to return that. We miss here deeply, and always will. Luna Vet comforted us and they were very gentle, even after her passing. I cry as I write this, but know she loved us and we loved, and still love her. God bless the veterinarian and the tech that helped my Bridgette cross the rainbow bridge. I know she will be waiting for me when my time comes.

I’m so happy we found Luna Vet to care for our beautiful and beloved Sonia, who was experiencing advanced chronic kidney disease at 17 years old. She was the light of our life and the biggest personality in our house but we knew it was time to say goodbye to spare her any more pain. Online scheduling made it easy to book an appointment, which was very helpful because I couldn’t have spoken on the phone without sobbing. Dr. Lauren and Jessica made us feel loved and cared for, and treated Sonia so well even after she passed. The mementos of her fur, whiskers, and clay paw print were done as we shared stories of her. We felt heard and seen, which eased my heart. Then we shared hugs and tears as we put her in the car. They sent us a personal card a few days later, which further showed their sincere empathy. The cremation process through A Greener Place was seamless and they too had excellent communication and personalized care. I can’t recommend them enough if you need to say goodbye to your loved one. Thank you Luna Vet 💜
